SRP’s LATCH Receptacle Tested |

To ensure market confidence in the TRUNNION-LATCH and in view of the component’s criticality in the riser system a full scale receptacle unit was built and subjected to demanding function testing including stabbing, latching and unlocking as well as proof-load testing to confirm its structural design. Displacement measurements were recorded at regular intervals to demonstrate an elastic linear relationship with the applied load. Even at the extreme load applied, the maximum displacements did not exceed a few millimetres and deformation remained within the elastic region. This was demonstrated by the fact that displacements returned to zero when the load was removed and the latch dogs remained fully functional thereafter. A detailed post-test inspection showed no damage to the receptacle components. The receptacle design tested was subjected to more than four times its design operational load. SRP’s TRUNNION-LATCH product enables high load connections in critical service applications. SRP remains entirely confident in their ability to deliver the product with a world-beating technical and commercial package. |
