Whilst single line hybrid risers (also known as SLOR's or SHR's) have been used on a numerous deepwater projects there is growing concern that they are overly complicated and costly. This situation arises from the fact that each project re-engineers a new solution to meet project requirements and contractor preferences. This approach has a negative impact on schedule and CapEx but also on risk, as new designs are rarely well optimized and can incorporate features that are not well proven.

SRP, in conjunction with VerdErg can provide a standardized and modular lower SLOR assembly based on field proven arrangements.

The design meets the majority of riser sizes and design conditions and thereby allows a degree of standardization and a significant reduction in re-engineering, project schedule, project risk and cost.

Starting from a pre-engineered solution upon which a considerable level of optimization for manufacturability and installability has been carried out enables project specific engineering to be carried out quickly. This is particularly efficient for smaller developments, tie-backs and gas export applications.

Functionality / Features

Whilst hanging the SLOR base, pipe and top assembly from the installation vessel the buoyancy tank can be attached by either chain or load spool by means of a self-energizing latch connection. After base connection the flexible jumper to the production facility is connected using field-proven VerdErg connector tools enabling fast and efficient pull-in.
