SRP invests in the development of its own specialist technologies. Additionally SRP has formed strategic relationships with specialist companies (that are not necessarily offshore oil and gas focused) with technologies of their own in order to offer a wider range of solutions for today's increasingly challenging oil and gas industry. Specialist technologies are applied only where added value can be clearly demonstrated to improve performance, cost or lead time to meet customer demands.

SRP’s shrink-fitting technology is different to previous applications of shrink-fit. With both sealing and locking mechanisms the SRP’s Shrink-Fit technology has been successfully applied in the PRESSURE-DRILL product range to deliver riser joints capable of 10,000psi steady-state operation.

SRP’s Tri-Pin technology constitutes a fatigue optimized locking mechanism for application on marine drilling riser and other subsea connections. Primary locking is via rotation and a range of secondary locking mechanisms exist according to client preference. Both mechanisms may be activated either manually or with a machine.

SRP’s use of SLIDE-MAX bearings has led to considerable of development and qualification work on ability of marine bearings to withstand the service duty of oscillation under high load in deepwater for 25yr service lives. The result is an understanding of what works best and exclusivity of both product and data.
