The heart of this system is the TRI-PIN connection. A triple breached cone connection the TRI-PIN requires only a 60° turn using a tommy-bar or (robotic device) to energise with a simple and fast secondary locking mechanism.
Extensive fatigue testing has shown a considerable fatigue life premium over the weldment interfaces common to marine drilling risers.
